UPCOMING SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIPS
home of hope
location:
murombedzi, zimbabwe
Home of Hope orphanage has three homes where the children are learning what it means to love Jesus and be a part of a safe and nurturing family.
Our Mission: To communicate the love of Jesus in meeting needs of body, mind, and spirit
Our Vision: To provide a hope and a future for orphan children and to empower the community by providing opportunities for growth
Our Goal: Sustainability
If you go on a trip to Home of Home, you might play with the children, tutor, read with them, play games, participate in evening devotions, help with improvements at the Home, plan meals and help cook. Walking to school and doing chores with the children offers an authentic glimpse into their daily lives.
You might interact with ladies in the community who are learning to sew and listen to their stories of how this initiative is changing their lives. You could lead the weekly women’s Bible Study or a Ladies Retreat or talk about Jesus one-on-one with the people you meet.
Others who come to Home of Hope could be involved in teaching woodworking or other skills, or helping with a soccer tournament where the salvation message is preached, or sharing a testimony in church.
Teams visit various ACPI (Africa Church Planting Initiative) church plants to encourage and pray with the pastors and those attending church. AEC has sponsored two church plants and is now preparing to begin sponsorship of three more churches.
In an effort to better understand the culture of the area, you would visit homes in the community, learn how they do life, encourage them with verses, and pray with them. Field trips to the village and downtown Harare, as well as a safari, offer different perspectives of life in Zimbabwe.
Tentative Future Teams: Let us know your interest, skills, and gifts, and we will plan a trip for you!

SOLID ROCK INTERNATIONAL
location:
san juan de la maguana,
Dominican republic
Our Mission: To communicate the love of God through our construction and barrio teams. The focus of Solid Rock International is to transform the mind, body and soul of the poor in the Dominican Republic.
We do this by traveling to different rural villages and set up barrio clinics and see the people who come that day for health care. We have physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and lay people who care for the people. While we are there, the gospel is shared with everyone first thing in the morning. While in the village a pastor and a team of people go out and do home visits for those that it is difficult to get to the clinic. The gospel is shared with the family in the home as well. Kids always hang around all day while we are seeing patients and there is ample opportunity to play with the children, even if you don’t speak the same language! We take toys, soccer balls, nail polish, crayons, markers and paper to connect with the children.
Construction teams help with various needs that arise in the San Juan community or at the clinic/guesthouse.
We have translators that go out with us each day and over the years these translators have become good friends who feel like family. They have taught us so much about the Dominican culture and love the people so well.
There is a chance to sponsor a student through the student sponsorship program and you have the chance to meet your student and their family in person on Thursday evening at the guest house. This is always a special time to connect. This sponsorship helps defray the cost of going to the Solid Rock school and earning a very good education.
Local artisans come to the guesthouse one evening and bring the items they make including baskets, larimar jewelry, cutting boards and other items that can be purchased. Coffee and vanilla can also be purchased to bring home. We have dinner at a local restaurant one evening and get to try typical Dominican dishes. You can spend time in the barrios surrounding the guesthouse playing with kids and meeting neighbors.
You can go to solidrockinternational.org for more information or talk to Rick or Lori Yoder.
Tentative Future Teams: Our next trip is scheduled for January 3-10, 2026.
